Extension for all Transitional General Licensees to Complete the Education and Exam Requirements to Apply for a General Licence
On May 21, 2021, the Government of Ontario made a regulatory amendment under the Condominium Management Services Act, 2015 (CMSA) to extend the time that all Transitional General Licensees have to complete the education and exam requirements to apply for a General Licence by approximately one year (from June 30, 2021 to May 31, 2022).
You can review these changes here.
Please know that the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services is continuing to carefully monitor the impacts of COVID-19 on our province's valued condo communities and is listening to those whose health and well-being may be impacted. Today's regulatory amendment is intended to provide relief to Transitional General Licensees who may be facing exceptional circumstances brought on by COVID-19.
We encourage all Transitional General Licensees to take appropriate steps to satisfy the education and exam requirements to apply for a General Licence prior to the May 31, 2022 deadline.
For further inquiries about this extension, and the education and exam requirements, you may wish to contact the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario (CMRAO). The CMRAO is an administrative authority designated under the CMSA and is responsible for administering that Act, including regulating and licensing condo management providers and condo managers.
