CCI Huronia Newsletter, Spring 2019 Issue

President's Message

Dear Members,

I hope you are happy to see the end of winter and that spring is coming to life!   Hopefully there will not be any rude blizzards in April.

We were pleased with the turnout and response at our combined luncheon event with ACMO.   Speakers from the CMRAO and CAO provided updates on the evolution of their respective entities, and gave us insight into how things are working practically for each entity and what the future looks like.

This issue of CCI Huronia’s Newsletter, “SPRING CLEANING” has useful information from our condo director Board Member, Richard Murray, on how to get organized for spring.  Richard provides his perspective on timely contract negotiations and periodic fire alarm inspections.  Thank you to Jon Juffs for sharing his wisdom on whether or not your Reserve Fund Study is on track.   With more legislative change on the horizon that will make reserve fund budgets and reserve fund opinions entrenched in the Act, it makes sense to know if your Corporation will meet the standard.  Lawyers Sonja Hodis and Ashley Winberg round off the issue with some great legal perspectives and proactive advice.   If you or your board are interested in writing an article for CCI Huronia, please get in touch with us.

We are excited about the April Directors Course, on April 27 and 28, 2019.  The Education Committee has created a powerful two days of director education, including sessions on Shared Facilities and Shared Facilities Agreements, Electric Vehicles, Emergency Plans and the Role of Directors.   We hope to see you there!

This year, our AGM, Tradeshow and Conference: “Won’t You Be my Neighbour?” will be held at Liberty North on September 20 and 21, 2019.   Come and learn more about what is new and evolving in your neighbourhood.   Happy spring!
