President's Message
Welcome to 2018. CCI Huronia has an exciting year of education planned and we kicked off our year with our Condo 101 course. Thanks to those directors for participating and for asking great questions.
With the introduction of changes to the Condominium Act, 1998 and the creation of the Condominium Authority of Ontario and the Tribunal, together with the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario, this is going to be an interesting year to be a director, manager and service provider in the condominium industry.
We have a solid board to serve the needs of the chapter and I extend my gratitude to each of them for showing up and actually doing the real work that makes this chapter work. As a board we have decided to take on our annual events such as our Directors’ Courses ( April and October) and the Tradeshow, Conference and AGM “ Money Talks” in September, together with some new ideas like the Condo 101 Course and a Director Exam Prep Course to address concerns about getting through the directors course.
CCI prides itself on being dedicated for the last 35 years to creating, fostering and promoting strong condominium communities in the vibrant Canadian marketplace. The Canadian Condominium Institute is an independent, non-profit organization formed in 1982 with 19 chapters across Canada.
With almost a half of a million condo owners represented across Canada, CCI is the only Canadian national association dealing exclusively with condominium issues effecting all of the participants in the condominium community. The Institute’s chapters throughout the country use the expertise and practical experience of their volunteer members to provide guidance in respect of the development and application of provincial condominium acts and related legislation.
CCI assists its members in establishing and operating successful condominium corporations through education, information dissemination, workshops, community participation and resource allocations. Your CCI Huronia Chapter is an active participant at a grass roots level in Huronia and at the National level through its directors and members. We are dedicated to the proposition that knowledge is power for directors who dedicate their time as condominium directors to the improvement of condominium communities.
